Parenting a child with Down syndrome is a journey filled with milestones, both big and small.
Try not to compare your child's progress with anyone else's. Every child develops at their own pace, and every achievement deserves to be celebrated.
Focus on what your child can do, encourage their interests, and celebrate each new skill, no matter how small it may seem. Your belief in them helps build their confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
Remember to look after yourself too. A well-rested, supported parent is better able to support their child.
What is one milestone your child has achieved recently that made you smile? We'd love to celebrate with you in the comments.
At our coffee mornings, social gatherings, and wellbeing events, we support parents because we've been there. You're not alone on this journey.
